  • The ‘Code of Ethics in Banking’ is drawn up and is adopted across the Romanian banking sector;

  • Conclusion of the Convention on applying the SEPA standards to the National Payments Schemes;

  • Common Rules on Account Mobility issued by the European Banking Industry Committee (EBIC) are adopted;
  • The establishing of an entity for mediation in the financial & banking sector is fostered;
  • New international rules governing demand guarantees – Publication ICC Paris 758 are applied;
  • The first banks in Romania join the SEPA Direct Debit Scheme for euro payments;

  • A national campaign for financial education is deployed with the support of the Romanian Television; in 2012, the audience at national level stands at half a million viewers per filler;
  • The coordinated implementation of the provisions of the ANPC Order no. 164/2011 on some measures for financial banking and non-bank institutions to inform their customers;
  • The new provisions of the International Rules INCOTERMS are enforced;

  • The International Financial Reporting Standards are implemented, including the respective Fiscal Code amendments and the correlation with the NBR’s prudential policy;
  • The framework for self-regulating lei payments is drawn up;
  • The launching of the TRANSFOND SENT SEPA RON system and of the SEPA Credit Transfer Scheme for payments in the domestic currency (SEPA Credit Transfer RON – SCT RON);

  • Setting up of a Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution in Banking (CSALB);
  • RAB becomes a member of the European Banking Institute;
  • Launching of the service for the processing of direct debit instruments in the domestic currency in SEPA format (SEPA Direct Debit RON – SDD RON); the Single Register for Direct Debit Mandates goes live;
  • Support granted for the promoting of the Romanian capital market on the monitoring list by FTSE Russell in order to obtain the Secondary Emerging status;

  • The rebranding of RAB, an action via which the RAB image is aligned with the new strategy based on four pillars;

  • The Ministry for Education and Research, the National Bank of Romania, the Ministry for Public Finance, the Financial Supervisory Authority and the Romanian Association of Banks conclude a Collaboration Agreement for the drawing up of a National Strategy on Financial Education;
  • The members of the Platform for Financial Education launch the Practical textbook for the users of financial services; Manualul practic pentru utilizatorul de servicii financiare - only in romanian;
  • The banking industry in Romania adopts a new Code of Conduct, a document which highlights the observance of the principles of banking ethics by all the banking sector’s stakeholders

  • Representatives of 11institutions from the financial industry of Romania sign a Collaboration Agreement for the establishing of a Financial Platform;
  • Launching of the Instant Payments component of the TRANSFOND SENT SEPA RON system and of the SEPA Credit Transfer Instant Scheme for payments in the domestic currency (SEPA Credit Transfer Instant RON – SCT Inst RON);

  • The banks in Romania launch an informing and awareness campaign called #DreptulLaBanking;
  • Collaboration Agreement on the implementing of the electronic garnishments system on bank accounts;

  • RAB becomes an affiliate member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development – the International Network on Financial Education (OECD/INFE);
  • Launching of a website dedicated to the National Strategy for Financial Education edu-fin.ro, built by RAB, in a partnership with NBR, FSA, ME and MF; edu-fin.ro, realizat de ARB în parteneriat cu BNR, ASF, ME și MF;
